CCB REBRAND
Identity, brand design
2020
Branding project done for a university work briefing. The institution selected to work on was Centro Cultural de Belém (CCB) in Lisbon. CCB is a very important cultural promoter in Portugal and hosts a lot of different activities such as talks, performances, exhibitions, concerts, etc. It’s a space that welcomes artistic diversity and invites people to connect to them.
The Building
As a physical space, CCB’s building was a landmark in portuguese architecture and the structure of it shapes the way the institution works. It’s a geometrically orgnized range of block-shaped buildings combined with outdoor spaces that resemble plazas and pathways, just like a ‘city inside the city’.

Logo proposal
The particularities of the building served as inspiration to redesign some glyphs, integrating rectangular blocks into them - and the promotion of different cultural practices motivated the typography choice, a font that mixes harmoniously uppercase and lowercase letters.
Due to the scale and complex logistics of this institution, I also developed an icon system to improve the communication of it.
Using the block motifs present on the logo, the icons where created to better identify places, services or regu- lar events and aggregate all of them into CCB’s graphic identity.
